Hi everybody

I have a multisync 90 19 inch monitor that I bought about 18 months ago. For a while now I see a little brighter dot on the screen. It looks clear, almost like a hologram when I move my head around. Anybody got any ideas?

Sounds to me like it could be a tiny scratch (or maybe even a bit of dirt :)). I've got a few scratches on my monitor and when I move my head I get an effect that could be described as a hologram. Three colours (pink, cyan and yellow) which move (light from the monitor refracting?) as I move my head. It's only really noticable on bright screens like on these forums. On a dark screen, I can't really see any scratches at all.

Maybe I'm wrong, but it sounds like the most likely thing to me from your description.

I hope the monitor is still under warranty - because what I think has happened is the photon gun in the CRT has burned off the phosphor coating on that spot on the monitor screen - This is a perminant blemish and usually has nothing to do with the monitor settings or resolution. I'd return the screenand get a replacement.

Regarding NEC - they used to be the parent company for Packard Bell before they closed that division as unprofitable. Their quality control isn't always the best..... but then this could happen to any manufacturer.....

Thanks for the replies guys. Yeh, I'll check the warranty and see, I know the store wanted to sell me an additional warranty that I declined. Will post back with my resolution (hehehe, no pun intended)
