View Full Version : Hope to have our own stats/proxy server for RC5 soon!

I'm currently working on setting up our own Proxy/Stats server. Hopefully I can have that figured out in the next day or so... I'm currently using Virus's Statsaholic scripts but a couple of the scripts keep killing the server that I have the proxy/stats setup to use....so I'm now doing some debugging work to see if it's the scripts or if there is something up with that server..

I think I have it going :)

www.xtremepccentral.com/rc5stats/

and if you want to use this server for your blocks make your "dnetc.ini" look like this

[parameters]
id=you@youremail.com

[misc]
project-priority=RC5-72,OGR=0

[triggers]
restart-on-config-file-change=yes
pause-on-no-mains-power=no

[display]
progress-indicator=auto-sense

[rc5-72]
fetch-workunit-threshold=0

[networking]
nofallback=false
autofindkeyserver=no
keyserver=www.xtremepccentral.com

*Note* by using the "nofallback=false" statement if my server is unable to feed or recieve your blocks it will use a Dnet server (of course any blocks directly dumped to Dnet will not be included in your block count on the Team Stats Server)

Enjoy.

Ummm, where do I find the "dnetc.ini" to make these changes?

Mntsnow
01-19-2003, 7:52 PM
RK that is found inside your DNET folder (you might need to turn on the ability to see file extenstions under "tools/folder options/ then the view tab)

Mntsnow

WHOOOHOOO Graphs are now working too!

*edit* Now they arent :( lol

*edit* Yes they are....They just need 2 or more days of results to be able to "plot" a graph lol

Thanks Mitsu! It's been a pain but not to bad of a pain.....Just ask Salatar...Earlier this morning I was so ticked off as I couldnt get it to work on one of my linux boxes and neither could he .... So I took a few hours away and went and picked up a new snowmobile for Chel (My Wife...Even though we have jack for snow right now in utah :() Anyways...I ended up making it work on one of my other servers (non linux lol) :D

Email sent Codybear :)

For those that don't want to make their own dnetc.ini file I have attached a zip that has one already made.
(just need to change your email address ;))

Just wondering, if I run out of RC5-72 WU's and it starts to work on OGR WU's will the proxy still upload the OGR units?

Yes it will Mitsu but the stats software is currently supporting RC5 only.

...stats software is currently supporting RC5 only.

?

Mntsnow
01-24-2003, 1:45 PM
So are you saying it will support the other projects along side of the RC5-72 Virus? If so great

Virus
01-24-2003, 2:01 PM
It supports RC5-72, RC5-64, OGR, CSC, and DES.

I am working on adding combined stats that will calculate every users' completed work from all projects.

That is just a config or file permission problem. I will be helping mntsnow fix that whenever we both have free time.

Surreal, you have bigger things to worry about like how Dnet thinks you've only crunched one block in the last 4 days

http://stats.distributed.net/participant/phistory.php?project_id=8&id=411630

When I was looking at the stats, I saw Rod Serling off on the side making a commentary.

Cwiz....she has only dumped a single block to my proxy server....There is only a single connect from her IP and only one block transfered

surrealchereal

I know that's why I have kept asking for help.
I think perhaps RC5 isn't for me. I'm kinda tired of being a pain in the butt and it's not working. :(
I have it on 3 or 4 machines. I don't know what I've done wrong.
I don't know why I show up here on the stats one way and there another. http://www.ezsurreal.com/statsagain.jpg

But I'm getting tired of whining about it. If I don't get it figured out in a couple days I will probably ditch the puters from the herd that don't seem to work right. (which may be all of them)

Mntsnow
01-25-2003, 9:38 AM
Sweetie...the only thing you need to do is download the zip file INI file I posted and restart your client.

By chance are you logging out of the machines? If you are..have you installed the client as a "service"? If you havent installed the cleint as a service & are logging out of the machine(s) that would explain why you dont have blocks....

surrealchereal
01-25-2003, 9:46 AM
Mntsnow they are up and running. I never log out or shut down my machines. I used your ini file (changing the id of course ;) )
I am going to go though everything again step by step tonight or tomorrow.. I have shut down UD on this machine and it's crunching at a whopping 26k.

But I think the stats say I've send 157 blocks doesn't it?

Mntsnow
01-25-2003, 11:03 AM
No....That is an error that Virus is working on....If you click on your name you will actually see someone elses stats.... Your personal stats on the server are at http://www.xtremepccentral.com/rc5stats/index.php?section=RC572&page=detail&userid=9 (your listed on the first page in "9th" place as you were the 9th person to use the server.....but you are actuall in 11th place...Not 9th

The amount of time since recieving a block from you is correct on your line from the bymembers page http://www.xtremepccentral.com/rc5stats/index.php?section=RC572&page=bymember

I have setup another stats program that does list the users correctly but there are other things I dont like about it....So I'm holding out for Virus' program as I prefer his over this one www.xtremepccentral.com/dcstats/ (Virus' was originally based off of this program...Virus's uses php & mysql where this one uses Perl & flat files)

Surreal:

Changes made to the ini file require restarting the client.

To check if things are set up correctly, do a manual fetch/flush (under client). I'd do them separately so you can watch more easily rather than the update buffers option. This will give you instant feedback as to whether the client is connecting properly and, if you notice the address, where it is connecting.

Check your connectivity options. If you are on broadband, the default options are fine; they are set up to fetch/flush whenever they complete a buffer set. However, if you are on dialup, you need to change them so the client fetches and flushes whenever it is online. Otherwise, it will hold blocks and possibly run out of new blocks to crunch.

Hope this helps.

Nope. :(

Well your on the stats server now! Your currently at 54 blocks as of this posting so it would seem you straightened out your problem :)

And what if we don't use that? Would the points just sit or just wait a few then update on your server?

I just got this message from one of my cows.

Mntsnow

Yes they went direct. Their buffers were unable to fill mine for a little while. I'm raising the amount of blocks my server will hold in reserve so hopefully that doesnt happen again.
