... So to speak.
Recently I have been many emails concerning Cable Internet Access. I know absolutely nothing about Cable Broadband so I am having it setup for a couple months through the Local Co. I figure that for $59 for 2 months, I could learn abit about installation, Maintanance and tweeking so I can better help those that email me through my numerous forums.
I am ordering it tomorrow and "hopefully" getting it installed next Monday on my day off.

Cool :) I would love to get a cable connection too but AT&T is in the process of slowly upgrading the Midvale,Sandy Utah area and they dont think they will have my area done for almost another year!....So I still say "Thank Heaven for Qwest DSL"

.... Interleave. :( I got my CAP line "Upgraded" to a crappy DMT line and what do you think they threw in for free? A 32ms delay on my first hop. Ge thanks Qwest! Just what I wanted...
I am going to test the two and see which gives me the most stable speeds. Yes I know that Cable is "Shared" and can hav e speed drops as more clients go online. But, I have a friend a few blocks away that NEVER goes below 1700 / 256. WOW! All i get is a losy 70% of my 680.... *pout*

I have both here, and I have to say, that even though I live "downtown" the speed I get from the cable kicks DSL's butt
:)
Cheers!

I'm on DSL now only because the little pocket of the Bay Area I live in is not cable ready yet. I tried to get that first but it'll be awhile. My brother in-law has cable at his place and I have to say it rocks.

Cool Mholtum :) True I am one of the lucky one's in Qwests DSL for still having a CAP line without the interleaving.
I will keep my DSL because of the UPload speeds I have but I will really look into a cable connection for the DOWNload speeds :)

Danggggggg, after looking at that, I can't wait for next weekend to get here!!!! lol Something tells me, I'm gonna fall in love with cable, even more than I did with my DSL!!
I had my cable modem installed yesterday as well. When I first tested it, 1976Kbps/388Kbps. I was thinking that was pretty good.
Then last night I went to play some BattleField 1942 and the pings totally sucked...so I checked the rate again.... it went to 800/211.
So I plugged my DSL modem back in...all pings were where they were supposed to be and speed was back to 1.2/250. Looks like I am taking the cable modem back this afternoon.
I'm also going to switch to satellite TV as well and cancel cable completely.
Well, I guess my speed is slower than you Guys.I just checked it at broadband reports, and had 1618k Download, and 175k upload into Los Angeles. Checked from Wa. to New Jersey, and only got 872 download, and 199 upload.I won't complain however, since the testing was done in the middle of the day, on Saturday, and I'm sure every kid, and his brother, are on the net on weekends!! lol
