for lots of reasons - I'd want to stretch a case sideways - but if you cut a case apart to stretch it for more width - obviously the faceplate wouldn't fit any longer and you'd probably want to move some or all drive bays and then the faceplate definitely wouldn't match any longer -

so my question - is there a friendly plastic product out there or something else that is easily moulded to make custom face-plates?

I guess another way would be to cut the faceplate apart and then re-surface that to hide the connecting points after the cuts.

Any ideas?

I built wet dry filter and some custom tanks. There are two types jelly and very watery type 202 green label. You have to go to Homedepot or ace hard ware etc.I don't advise usine expoy. It's made for that type plastic. It does glue It fuses the plastic together. You can flame polish the edges with a clean burning touch. You will need to keep it cool.plastic get brittle with lot heat.Good luck :p
