Have two more days on the poll but at this time it would seem that RC5-72 will be the direction we take

I've gone ahead and started the Team Registration Process for the RC5-72 Project and XPC should be after Tonights updates.
after you have submitted blocks and they show up in the stats you will be able to join a team (hopefully of course that Team would be XtremePcCentral.com! ;) )
I will have a quick little totorial on how to setup your client so it works on RC5 by default instead of OGR (the same client can work on either)
Thanks team for Voting and lets take it to them!

basically to force the client to work on RC5 instead of OGR add this line to your DNET.INI file (just open it in Notepad)
[misc]
project-priority=RC5-72,OGR

Download the software (http://www.distributed.net/clients.html) for your system.
Configure the software with your email address (will want to do this the first time you start the client it will auto start the config process it's pretty self explainatory).
Visit your RC5 stats page 24 hours on DNET after your software starts crunching away at keys and has DUMPED some blocks.
It will be accessible at http://stats.distributed.net/projects.php?project_id=8 and do a search for your username and then when you have your own statistics page, scroll to the bottom and click on the "I cannot remember my password" link. this will cause it to send you your password so you can configure your own page and Join a team!
Check your email. You should have received a message from distributed.net. Your user ID# and password should be contained in that message.
Now go search for XtremePcCentral and at the bottom of it's page it will have a link saying "I want to Join this Team" or something like that. It will open a new window and follow the instructions :) or you can use this link
http://stats.distributed.net/participant/pjointeam.php?team=940186074 and just make sure it says XtremePcCentral :)
Do you remember what the setting was to make it download a bunch of packets to the buffer?

You can configure that in the "buffer & buffer update section" (option #2, 11 and change the value of 0 (auto) to whatever you want.)
btw Option 2, 9 is where you change via the config scripts the work priority. list RC5-72 first to make it the default type to crunch
Hey mike...send me links and instructions to run it on my dualee...it will run 24/7 as long as my internet connection is alive ( still on Directvinternet )

It is VERY Dually Friendly. you only have to install the client once :) and it is multi-threaded by default so it will use both procs automatically :)
btw if you want to run it as a service....Just create a shortcut of the dnet.exe and edit the properties of the shortcut to be
C:\DNET\dnetc.exe -install
This is the "target" line just add the " -install " and save it and just double click the shortcut. That will cause it to be installed as a service on your NT, 2k, XP boxes so it can run even without you have to log in to the box :) (note: of course the path might be different to the exe file as you might install it to a different directory than I did)
Of course when you dont want it to run as a service just change the -install to a -uninstall save and double click the shortcut and it will remove the client as a service
OK got one set up and will get another tomarrow, now I have to wait for complete packets so I can get my email so I can Join the team :) ? does it automatic send when complete or do I have to tell it to flush? also when adding the other puter I just config it and use my same email and it will be added to the team with the first puter or do I have to join the team twice?

It will auto dump......but I personally only wait until I have one or two blocks completed and do a forced dump...That way I know for sure I will be included in the next stats update. and then I just let it auto dump....One of the big reasons I always liked RC5...So easy :)... I'm going to try and reach Virus and see if he is going to run his stats server for this project as his for RC5-64 would update stats every 15 mins or so instead of once every 24 hours like Dnet
Adding additional machines is a breeze....Just do a Copy and paste of the DNET folder and contents (trash the "buff-in and buff-out's" so you dont create duplicates) and just place that on the other boxes (it's small enough to fit on a floppy :) and if you install it as a service (check out the "sticky" thread for more install details) and use the same location you can use the same shortcut and have a full network of computers setup & crunching in minutes :)
