Check out the new enhancement (http://careers.xtremepccentral.com) we are pleased to offer to our visitors!
I't been hard for many people to find stable jobs this year with all that happend. I am lucky enough to be working for a company that offers the benifits in town(free familiy insurance w/Aflax,real good 401k program through Fidelity and much more) and they are the highest paying job in town. The plant is so busy it runs 24/7 and only shuts down 3 days a year. I work 3 12hr days and 1 6hr day which means 2 hrs of time and a half a week and I get Wed. afternoon off,Thurs.,Fri.,and Sat. which works out great for my family, which is really helpful right now as my wife has major med. problems and is in and out of the hospital alot.

Nice feature -
MDS - about stable employment - those times are over - things change too fast - Even the Japanese no longer offer life-time employment.
The best that you can hope for is enough education and worth personnally so that you know you can always find a job..... That means documentation and paperwork and the right reputation..... And one constant still alive and well is the good-ole-boy network..... who do you know?
Another factor is that types like us tend to bore easy - once we've figured out the job and the local network and software - we are ready to move on and do something else -
I have found that those people always looking for a raise aren't worth trying to keep - but those people who never ask for a raise, but do great work and always seem to get the raises are awesome.
The only time I've ever asked for a raise is when I moved from making 4.50 an hour to 4.75 an hour working a warehouse job in college - I truely needed the money - and I got it - after that - the money followed me and almost invariably the reason I left a job is because some mid or upper management type went out of their way to piss me off.....
My philosophy is that if I'm not happy at what I'm doing - no amount of money is worth it.....
But in todays economy, there is no stable employment opportunity even if you are your own boss -

Axel, I personally and wholeheartedly agree with your overview of how even your own boss that people are not fully in control of their ability to make money!

with the amount of jobs I found after doing a search,
if I were 30years younger I would be looking to move to th US of A , and become part of the US population.
a great feature for all members in the States.
