I have finally got a computer much to the delight of most of my friends. The reason for this is because for the last 2 years I have been very interested in computers but having none of my own (and being a poor student) I had to rely on the patience of others and some have been very patient. My flat mate at the time i became interested had a duron 700 with a vodoo3 and it is on this system that i have been posting and playing. So I am in his room all the time and am constantly tweaking and replacing bits. He was bulllied into many things as a result of me.
but now that has all changed as a result of my parents and christmas. Up until now i had been slowly saving for a build of my own, sometime 2004, but as a surprise i got one a couple of weeks ago and it is one interesting system. First of all its a packardbell and experiences i had made me cautious of what was in there but now after a while i am pleasantly surprised.
sorry for the rant here are the specs:

pentium 4 2.53GHz
Mobo is more complicated- the reference is columbia II and using and mobo id program will bring up NEC as the manufacturer. But I have found that it is a gigabyte ga-8siml but unlike the original it has a sis651 chip (like the ga 8simlh)
80gig hard drive
512 pc2700 ram
Crucial Radeon 9700pro
17" monitor
soundblaster 5.1live
mini atx case
250w psu
windows xp home

13000 3dmark2001
4500 3dmark2003

Basically im happier than a pig.......
shame about the exams.
