anyone had any dealing with a p3 733 server system???

I have a dual P3 650 oc'd to 728...if that counts, lol

It's been running server duty continously for the last three years or so.

Thanks for the info on this, I'm looking at a single cpu/mobo all oem " that way I can get it at a discount" . we looked at gateway,compaq,dell ect. the problems so far with these is if you don't choose a server set-up. you get a pre installed o/s.

I got my own and don't want to pay for something, that will get deleted. and since I don't upgrade much, I figured that if I got a server level system. it would last me longer and have no affects on a 24/7/365 running time!!

yes, I know you can take any system and make a server out of it. and correct me if I'm wrong on this. but, if a system is classifed as a server level one. isn't it a more stable set-up???I just want a build/ power-up/forget it set-up

most "server" class systems are inherently more stable as they are not built with "cutting edge" tech such as the newest and baddest video cards.

They are built from hardware that is known to be compatible with the other parts in the system.

Gene if you buy a system from Dell or Gateway they usually will give you a price cut for omitting the parts/os you don't want (using the online configuration tools)

done deal. hooked up with another oem dealer in south miami beach
moveing up to the 733 level, everything on board except the modem. got a arm slot one for it. also , got a new ext u.s.robotics 56k
poped in 512 mb mem
48x12x48 cdrw
dell 1.4
already had some new HDD's on hand
mobo only has usb 1.0 . so I went to staples and got me a usb 2.0 card and a usb 40 gig ext hdd

case is two toned white & matalic baby blue has a 300 watt PS.
4 top cd-rom or what ever slots
1 ea - 1.4 & zip drive slots
5 lower hdd slots
2 front usb & 1 ea. mike & headphone
all inside removeable frame work for all hardware ect. never in my life have I had such a easy case to work with.. 4 fans slots 2 front/2 back

loaded full oem ver. xp pro and here I am.

now back to my todo list.

Hey tom, will do I'm trying to play catch with the past 19 degree temps we had. kinda put me behind.

I also, got a question for you all. anyone know about this laptop??
memory is 266 mhz I'm going for 512 not 256

dvd is 8x cdrw 24x8x8
video is 64 mb shared that is why I want 512 installed
going to go with xp home version

I'll post this here for it pretains to my 733 system running full version xp pro. I bought a scanner at HPshopping.com
hp scanjet 3570c scanner (Q2707A#A2L)
the system picks the scanner up and installs it with no problem.

But, when I try to install the hp software to use all of it's features. this also happens when I go ahead and install the software even tho it gives me these error's. And than try to open any of the HP installed software I also get them.
the error's are as following.

1. failed to create registry value
2. " " set usb found ststus
3. " " set scsi " "

I have went to the hp help site, no luck I even did a complete uninstall of the hp software/scanner ect. regestry fully cleaned.
changed or tried other usb posrt on my pci usb card. and even hooked it up to the ones on the mobo.

I can however use the scanner with photoshop on the 733 system. but, than I can't do anything with the 35 mm slides and negatives use of the scanner.

SAME thing happens.

now, when I did the install on my laptop that rums full version xp home. it all works like a top.

whats up, any and all help needed on this.

problem solved from the mouth of a 16 yr old.
I have photoshop installed on the desktop and not on the laptop.
he told me that if you have a heavy graphics program such as PS it will take over the editing process of the manf programs ect.

It did as when you load a file or program zip/unzip program and you choose relate this to any other file types.

that is what PS did with the Manf HP scanner software. so, I'm able to use all program options from inside PS and since that is my main graphics I use anyway.

it just did me a favor from haveing to turn around and edit them inside it.
why it dose it I don't know. I just know it works.
