Ours is all messed up. I lost a machine/parts to a Belkin pos surge box. and I gave the slower ones away at Christmas. we only have four online now instead of seven.
Besides I can't/don't know how you made that cool pic.

I like the updated schematic Mntsnow. I was going to just explain mine but now im gonna have to break out PSP and do my own little schematic so im not embarrased. Gotta keep the standards up you know. It realy is a good idea to have something like that to keep track of your network when it grows to sizeable proportions.

I use a program called Visio to do most network drawings, Visio is made by Microsoft.

Other good applications to use are
AutoCad

Diagram Studio

SmartDraw (free) I used to use this one all the time before I became a MS user for just about everything lol

LanFlow

and there a bunches of others I'm sure. these are the one's I've used before

Feel free to do so :) I know what you mean. I actually created a Excel spreadsheet that I have broken out in to sections for
Node Name
Login name
Login password
IP address & Subnet address
Domain name
computer discription (spec's)
OS & patch version
Primary duties (if a webserver what sites are on it and if db box what db's and what webserver it works with)

Then it is fully searchable so if I know I'm going to need to down a box I immediately know what sites will be effected ect ect.

Im still a messy networker. I have to go into the controll panel of the stystem to tell what its name is and to see what processor is running in it lol. Well at least the ones in the rack. I know the ones in the studio pretty well. You have a lot of hardware protection too. Im feeling nekid and open here after looking at what your running. I realy should have some kind of hardware firewall running.

After I get something sketched up i'll as for some opinions.

LOL Sal...Yeah there is a couple of "dev" only boxes that arent in that pic. Since I change those boxes to often I didnt include them :D

as for all the firewalling and such I do what I can to protect myself and my webhosting clients :)

Yeah..that's pretty much how it goes. I use the ADSL for my compter biz for the most part. This is what I was asking about when I was wondering out loud on connecting the two for file sharing...still haven't found the time to experiment with it.

now I understand more of what you were asking :)

cable modem -> router -> switch -> assorted computers

All PC type computers hooked to KVM
All computers and hardware plugged into UPS's
No comment on hardware used

For you Linux users, check out Dia (http://www.lysator.liu.se/~alla/dia/) to do those fancy diagrams. I've used it and it's great :) I'm too lazy to create my network though. I'll just tell ya. 1 hardware firewall, 3 Debian boxes, and one Winders box dual boot with Debian. ;)

Mine is such a mess that turboCAD would be hard pushed to describe it,

Basically I have:-

Downstairs,

Server machine with Broadband connection @ 100mbs
Powered hub, connecting to low height machine for 2.8 yr old son,
2 X Test rigs ( for testing things ) !
4 other desktops in various rooms
1 Laptop connection.

Upstairs, ( via 1. Uplink cable from hub to another hub, also via Actiontec network card using internal telephone cabling )!

2 X Desktops,
1 X Laptop
1 X wall inbuilt system, ( ie TFT screen and keyboard glued to wall in bathroom, so one can still access that research project whilst in the bath or on the john),( wife thinks I'm crazy and she's right)!

Basement,

Let's not go there, a herd of 386SX - Pentium2 machines waiting to be used for something( UD and ECCP when I can get the time and resource to make it so )

LOL Insufflator! My wife would balk at me putting a system in the potty :D

Stan I love how you have your page setup to list the details of your systems when clicked on them.....Might have to borrow that idea :)

Mine's pretty basic :)

W2K Pro 1800+ MP Workstsation
W2K Server P3-450 (web, db)
XP Corp / Drake 8.2 Cel500

KVM shares monitor, kb, mouse between Server and XP/Drake.

All on a 4-port router to a cable modem, static IPs on the nodes...

That's it, lol :D

Mntsnow I don't have enough room in my whole house for a network your size! hehe... However I do like that you use Visio. One thing that many users don't know about it that in the enterprise version, you can import you AD structure and Network Environment, and make changes to them in Visio it'self. Quick Easy and Handy.... but you better be a Schema admin!

I'll draw mine up here shortly!

Mntsnow

lol I barely have enough room and Chel would say I take up to much! :D

Yes I love visio it can do some sweet things.

Looking forward to seeing yours too!

Mine is pretty simple too. I have no network at this time since my other three systems are still in Korea. I had...

Dual AMD 1800+
Dual P3 1Ghz
AMD T-Bird 1Ghz
Celeron 700 @ 945Mhz
Linksys BEFSR41 router
