Mntsnow, keep us updated on the X-box issue, OK? ie: do we keep the current version, load the new one, stay, leave, ect.

Roadkill,

Yeah, I was just gonna make a thread about this, but I hope you don't mind if I add a ? to this thread too?

What is all this X-box stuff about? I got the following e-mail from the admin for neo, can anybody shed some light on this, as Ihaven't heard a single thing about it?

As you may be aware – The Neo Project has added another challenge to our website. Some users are unhappy with the decision and do not want to have any part of the project while it is cracking the code for the Xbox. There are some users that are planning on leaving the project.

For those users who want to run the RSA576 Challenge without the Xbox addition we have compiled a new version that you can download from here http://www.jsmcorp.com/neorsa600.zip

Here are the instructions for the update. Close Neo if it is running - Download the file above, unzip the file into the Neo directory – this will replace the neo.exe. You will no longer have access to the Xbox challenge.

Thanks for the understanding and sorry for the extra traffic on the site.

I'm in the process of Changing out my Neo.exe over to the NEW RSA only client

I personally have choosen to currently stay with the RSA only as the Xbox client would put me at a legal issue risk with my MS Certifications. At this time I can say I'm going to be watching to see what kind of support the Neo Team gives the RSA project and if it gets worse then I'll suggest that we discuss other projects or such at that time.

Ummm, I don't want to sound like an idiot, but how do I close NEO to load the new exe?

Shyguy, check out the Neo Project Forums for all the discussions and comments about this X-Box Project.

Right click it and choose "exit" that will close out the current runnng Neo (do this twice for dually machines) Then copy the NEW RSA only client over to the existing Neo.exe and over write it. (the new client is just slightly larger in size so you will know that you overwrote it correctly) and then just double click the new neo to start it up

I just installed the new client.I have bad feelings about getting mixed up in that xbox thing!!! Keep us posted on things Mntsnow!! If things are gonna get worse in the way of support, then we as a team, really do need to consider other options.Of course, this is just my opinion on the whole matter!!

I am going to leave the client as is- XBox challenge sounds Mischievious :D (as long as the MOPS/pts stays the same and it does not effect the Team)... but I also dont have anything to compromise by doing so.

But, OVERALL, I'm a TeamPlayer and will play "Follow the Leader" :) .

I havent been on the Boards much lately- been a bit CompBurnOut, so if anything Drastic happens, keep me informed via pm or email.

my problem is that the project will be synonymous with the xbox cracking. whether the client you have running is doing rsa or not, there is still the link and the discussion on the page. this leaves it open for debate, as well as suspicion. im having issues abvout being publically tied with cracking an illegal key. id hate to see any of us get caught with our hands in the cookie jar, as well as have anyone accuse us of having a moral issue with being associated with a d/c project that works on illegal stuff. just changing the client, im afraid wont help here. the taint has been made. i know i havent been all that active crunching with you guys, but once my laptop was repaired i was bringing it home to XPC. im afraid i cant do that now. I am also thinking of resigning my mod status at neo. I just dont want to lose cxredibility with this d/c project.

see my thread "link from the home team" in this fourm.

seems neo is stabbing folks in the back.

Like one of my xdc teammates said.

We have Madfish correcting grammar now. Something must be in the air tonight :D You been out whiffing nitro fumes again Mad?

I just found out there cleaning up their stats and deleting user stats with accounts inactive for more than 30 days. So you better keep running it or loose your points and standings. Im about to loose everything I did while trying to run the project when it started with the buggiest of clients.

From the Neo forums:

In order to keep things clean, we will be removing accounts (not forum accounts- just stat accounts for the projects) that sit idle for 30 days. This process will be automated and will be done daily. If you would like to keep your account you should upload at least 1 packet every 30 days.

This script will be activated as of 11:59PM EST this evening.

Thanks,
Mike

I just dont get this one at all. I ran this project when it was just a little baby and put up with an almost 80% loss of production at times. I quit because of the server problems and production loss. I never expected to see something like this though. You never know though they might flop on this one too if they start getting to much grief for such a lame decision.
