View Full Version : VGA to Serial problem

I've an old serial monitor that works fine on serial systems but when I bought an adaptor to connect a male serial to a female VGA, the monator wont work. I've tryed it on three differnt systems.
Can anyone help me?

Does your adapter have "dip-switches" on it? If so are you sure you have them in the correct positions? Also if I remember correcctly most serial adapters only work at specific refreash rates are you sure your vga is set to a sync rate the adapter will be able to work with?

Thare are no dip switches on the adapter. How do you adjust the refresh rate?

from within your operating system go into the video cards properties and from there you should be able to adjust your refresh rate

I went in under safe mode and changed refresh rate from unknowm to adapter defalt ( the only two options where shown). However when I pressd apply it said something about runninging in safe mode and all values will be reset to previos vlaues upon restarting.
