Figured to see about just making one thread for all my Desktop backgrounds I make...

should be easier... link them all in one post too...

For starters, here's a quickie I slapped together late last night for my Nephew (he's only 3 & loves Ricers/Imports & racing in general, Loves playing Need For Speed Underground 2 with his Dad on Xbox)

Was a new Model (3 Different paint/graphics schemes for the model) I bought on Daz3D last night for Daz Studio & Poser, imported it into Carrara 6 & added the flames/Nitrous type effect in there, used some Solar Eclipse background I found via Google for backdrop (the actual version my nephew got was this one, but I also made a version with "Donovan's Rocket" in big bold Red letters on top of it for him too... waiting to see if he wants this one or later on the green one similar to Fast & The Furious :D )

Work In Progress, another model I bought last night, this one is the one right now I'm messing with, I found out how to use some Sub Surface Scatter Shaders in Carrara 6, & originally gave it an almost irridescent paint job, depending on the angle viewed, level of lightings, & color of lighting the percieved color of the car would change :D

but for now I used some Metallic Paint Shaders for it, its supposed to be a Siliver color, bur for what ever reason under White light it shows an almost Blueish color, windows tinted Red, Rims originally chose Gold for, but didn't show well with stock lighting, changed to Brass, same effect, so chose a gold anodized/Gold electrum shader that brought out that gold rim color I was going for.

I had another project with a Lotus Elise trying to use Fog & lighting, & its not turning out as I had expected, mainly due to the model being a single piece, & can't select individual parts for headlights etc... so may scrap that one in favor of the F550 model to use instead.

but have some more Sci-fi ones I have to get around to later as well.

yeah, have forgotten to update this thread with more links to my images...

every once in a while working a bit on that last model up there, the F550, more recently I edited the inside of the headlights with a gold anodized shader to give it some color, apparently actual gold and/or brass doesn't show well through the lens cover :rolleyes:

have also messed with tinting the individual light lenses to give a more real look, but they don't show well through the main cover lens.

if I can figure out how to get it to "project" beams of light like in real life, that could help out immensely... but right now I'm doing a little every once in a while, while still trying to learn how to use the software.

my latest "project" was downloading a model of the Gunstar Starfighter from the old 80's movie The Last Starfighter, & seems not to want to open properly in Carrara 6, will try another program see if it works... watched that movie on cable last week, & got me thinking if I had the time, know how & resources I could redo just about every CG scene in the original movie & make it look that much better LOL...

but oh well.

will have to post links for the other images later.

LOL, so are mine, none of the models are my creations, all ones I've downloaded or bought to use, only things that are "original" of mine is setting up the scenes, lighting, in many cases shaders or texture choices I use, camera angles etc.

well, the flames out the back of the Eclipse is my work, but the rest is other peoples, model I bought online to use in Carrara & Daz Studio, backdrop was some image I found on Google doing an image search, etc...

My Lotus Elise/Exige headlight project I was trying to simulate headlights in fog, when I stumbled upon how to do the flames effect I did on the Eclipse above, but below is one of "final" renders in an early stage that didn't turn out right, but still looks cool... along with screens from working with in C6.

that one also has my one & only Animation attempt, with the one section thats around 1:53 left on the timer... move the slider to 1:53, & wait about 10 seconds should see it, LOL, all I did was zoom in & rotate camera/model view a bit...

I had another run, doing something similar with a flyby view & whatnot of the Enterprise model, but the animation was jerky & imprecise with movements

added a new one, not finished, but spent about an hour tonight setting it up & placing things... took forever to get the cannons to rotate properly, as some aspects of both Dorsal & ventral turrets are linked together, others are seperate, so was a real B*tch to get it to rotate in right direction.

used a Wide Angle lens for camera to give it a bit more of an "action" feel to it...

played with some lighting settings & going to need the Quad core for that, so will have to wait to work on it more once I get that in.

starting to get the hang of messing with some of the texture/shading effects for making some special effects looks... can get what I'm looking for to work in the Texture room, but once I go to render it never shows up right... but looks right in texture room, irritating to say the least LOL...

anyways, figured for the hell of it, I'd render this one at full 1080i/p resolution of 1920x1080, so uploaded the JPEG image LOL... the BMP file for it is 5.8MB in size :eek:

still have more to throw in so file size might grow some even more down the road LOL... still have to add in the hordes of other styles of TIE fighters & see if I can find some good models of X-Wings & A-Wings, as well as a decent one of a Star Destroyer...

but here's what I got so far... (can barely see an unlighted Nebulon Frigate in the distance, have to get a few Mon Calamari ships if I can to add to it)

2nd one has some jacked up/tweaked lighting & shadow settings & took 48 minutes to render vs the 1 to 2 minutes for the 1st one.
