Um, before anyone replies to this question of his, might want to google his name... (spam in sig tipped me off, since he hasn't removed it yet, despite replying to a post of his almost
2 hours ago, when he was still on the site/forums, & it hasn't been removed yet...)

Notice this link...

http://www.webdesignforum.com/showthread.php?t=1081&page=2

anybody here at XPC recognize some similar user names in there? in that page?

notice anything, they almost all have spam links in their sigs?

Priji revived a 3 year old thread, aarathi is in there & so is this dude ALL of them have spam in sigs, all of them have registered on this site, & if I remember right ALL of them also have or had spam in sigs on here too...

Oops, think I'm going to have to report the spam in the sig now... forget about the warning, I figured I'd tip him off, as his questions sounded some what sincere in one post, so decided to give benefit of doubt, but oh well... seems our Arab friends are now joining our Chinese, & Indian friends in spamming forums across the world? (whether its in posts or via sigs)

oh hey more...

http://www.win98banter.com/showthread.php?t=43486 (Huh?)

http://www.win98banter.com/showthread.php?t=43487 (again WTF is he even talking about, just joined that forum & he's giving pros & cons on it? )

http://www.saviour-pc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=310&page=2 (must be a team effort... looks like aarathi hit up this forum too, doesn't show his spam links, but in googles search Kolyns name came up with this thread, but its not there, so I'm guessing he got busted & deleted... http://www.saviour-pc.com/forums/showpost.php?p=7116&postcount=16 )

LOL, BUT THIS ONE TAKES THE CAKE

This dude gets busted for Spam in Sig by being stupid enough to post in english on an almost entirely Italian Langauge Forums, with the same stupid Pepsi or Cola type post from others he's done...

http://www.sciax2.it/forum/showthread.php?t=16280

read message in his sig on this one...

also used Babel fish to loosely translate some of the posts...

-but the bannate ones to questo???è an Italian forum!! x have been recorded alone to spammare one situated one of mer... endine

-you close the argument mod is completely useless

-Marked the post, instead mailing useless messages

I'm thinking the admins here might want to check IP's incase they match, if they are similar posts, similar Spam sig issues, then these are multiple accounts from same IP, & should be banned users...

seems just about almost all of Kolyns threads are 3 per site, same with aarathi, & other similar posts by other spammers...

priji isn't listen on the member list here at XPC anymore, so I'm wondering if they got banned recently?

might be a good idea for the mods to pay close attention to these posts with spam in sigs from now on.

While in your application?

Well - Most modern compiler IDE's & their controls + forms have an "OnKeyPress" event you can monitor & filter... also, many controls have the ability to LIMIT the datatype being entered, AND field max lengths!

This event is ESPECIALLY useful in databasing applications (web too), for "sanitizing inputs" alongside the use of limiting what can be entered (datatypes & length of field input) into the input fields!

E.G.-> Say number data vs. alphanumeric data, OR length of what can go into the input fields too... (also, using Trim/LTrim/RTrim (most modern languages have variants of this) is useful too for that capacity (securing inputs)).

I'm "going off on a tangent" here, in noting things you can do to secure & sanitize inputs, but, those points go along w/ using KeyPress events in program forms & controls too!

(The "main reason" I mention this is simple: One of MY "biggest fears" as a coder, is when users have to touch the keyboard... spelling errs, you name it, can "muck your code up", & building errtraps vs. that can be daunting @ times, depending on the datatype used... I try to use pre-populated lists &/or comboboxes as much as possible, to try to "offset" the user making errs on data entry etc. or DB queries et al)

APK

P.S.=> I just noted you guys are accusing this fellow who started the post of being a spammer etc. et al (for whatever THAT means)... well, so be it, but I am still posting what somebody should/can do, to help, in regards to his question... apk

It depends on what kind of component you want to catch the keystroke on...Or whether you just want it for anywhere on the page.:fish:
