Hey all...

I've got this Compaq iPAQ Networking 10/100 Fast Ethernet PCI Card...the drivers on the cd didn't work for 2k so Compaq emailed me a link to drivers that should work in 2k. No dice. I try to install the drivers and it doesn't recognize them at all.

I know it's not DOA because my dad has the exact same one in his win98 comp and it works great. I tried his in mine - same scenario. Any suggestions?

Check to see if you have the option to allow "unsigned drivers" to install. (this would be found usually in Local Security/Local Policies/security options in the Admin tools section of Win2K)

Thanks for the suggestion Mntsnow...I couldn't get anything to work....then I installed XP and it wouldn't recognize the card at ALL. I couldn't even try out XP drivers that I now had.

So I said screw it and traded it for a Linksys...if that failed too, Linksys has 24/7 free tech support:D

Put it in, XP already had the drivers for it and VOILA! It works, I have DSL;):D

Cool :) Glad you got it up and running.....by chance did you put the card in a different pci slot?

there's always the chance you have a bad PCI bus driver installed for the motherboard which would cause this sequence of events to happen - when you pull up device manager - do you have any yellow or red alert items tagged in there?
