 I've been thinking about retiring this thing that I'm on,after 5 years of faithful service(she's just to slow!!) I was looking at the KT 4 Ultra, but have some questions about them.First off, what is the fastest Athlon XP that she will handle? Second, what type of memory do I need? I keep hearing about 400 ddr, and 333ddr, but I don't know where to get that stuff.Would you guys share some of your knowledge on this board please.I just gotta build me a faster crunchin rig!!! I'm tired of last place!!! lol:rolleyes:

DDR 3500 is what speed memory the board will take. It will handle the fastest AMD XP proc that is currently available.

As for where to get memory just about any of the shops that sell that mobo will have the memory available for it.

Personally I only go with the "bleeding edge" when I have money to burn (which isn't to often) So I usually buy "best bang for the buck" which right now would be in the neighbor hood of using a XP2200+ proc with DDR2700 memory. and wait for the "current" fastest procs and memory to drop in price before I would get it

I'm with Mntsnow. Another reason to hold off for a bit is to make sure that the product is stable. Generally, the last firmware, embedded controller, BIOS or electromechanical revisions usually occur within the first couple of months of being on the market. Waiting often eliminates concerns and reduces pricing as well. I'm in the same boat as far as waiting. I plan on getting one of the new e7505 Xeon boards, but another another month or two will allow me to make a better decision before spending alot of money.
