Look at http://www.dslreports.com/faq/11010.

If connected directly by LAN cable (no router), go to http://launchmodem after pressing the modem reset button (powered up) for about 20 seconds and then disconnecting the modem power cord for ten seconds and reconnecting the power. You can use the Easy Login page to enter your username (if BellSouth for instance, then it is <username>@bellsouth.net) and password (same as for your e-mail at that ISP).

Let us know how it goes...

Vester,
Thanks for responding.

after id and password, I get to choice of PPPOE or Bridge.
first chose PPPoE. that didn't bring up the internet connection.
then chose BRIDGE and got the HOME SUMMARY.
-----------------------------------------------------------
HOME SUMMARY
Wirespeed Dual
DSL Sync Up Device Name Connect
Connection Up Model Number B90-610030-06
Bridge Serial Number 04B409590940
Downstream Rate 858(kbits/sec) Softeware Version 03.06.02
Uptream Rate 156(kbits/sec) DHCP Server Enabled
-----------------------------------------------------------

that's it so far.

If the computer is connected to the router directly, you don't need a bridge connection. (Bridge connections with that modem are automatic if using a router.) It should connect PPPoE. Maybe you should call your ISP.

this modem was recently bought on ebay fro9m a person who said it worked fine for him.
I've emailed hom for his setup info.
My ISP(Verizon) will not help since it was not bought from them.

With Verizon, ask if they use PPPoE or have a static setup.
Thats all you need. Once you got it, then let us know and we can configure it.

Do you have an account and have you input your username and password into the router so it can connect? sounds like it but have to ask, you might have one character in either one wrong and that will give you the results you are getting

The lights all indicate there is service but that you have not logged onto it.

Addy of those modems is 192.168.1.254. Punch that in the browser address line enter advanced settings and input you user name and password to log onto verizons network. You want pppoe, as advised. Dont bridge it.

Good luck and welcome to XPC.

click on 192.168.1.254...
-------------------------------
entered my email address and password

screen said "please wait while I connect"
(picture on modem on screen)

screen flashes a few times...

and then...internet light on modem goes solid RED

and "cannot connect to target service"

B90-610030-06 is a Bellsouth model...B90-610015-06 would be a Verizon model.

Westell makes modems for all ISPs, then they make proprietary models, like one model for Verizon and one for Bellsouth (now AT&T)

I first bought a "15" model and could not get it configured and then read at the Bellsouth forum about the difference...bought another from eGay and it worked...still is.

Notice the difference in model numbers.
