I was just reading ur thread Doc over @ timo about data life guard, I use WD's in everything {since 95} and deal with them alot. the data life guard option is installed when you use the diskett to set up a new WD Hdd or on a machine with an older bios, or if ur lazy and want to partion/format it the fast way. if you happen to install it, it can be uninstalled.

Tip:
when using the data life guard diskettt to do whatever to your WD Hdd. have the machine disconect form the net, unplug RJ45 cable/ modem phone line. as it will try to connect to WD main site and finish seting it self up without asking permission too. after you get done running dignoist/disk copy/installation, AND befor you plug in the RJ45/modem line. goto control panle and run the uninstall applet and deinstall data life guard. sometimes the aplett don't uninstall all the registrey keys. so run MS's regclean and/or/both goto linto ur resistery and delete the life guard key. reboot and your fine.

Data life guard is a good app, ya just gotta be careful when using the diskett when setting up a new Hdd. I use the disketts on my larger WD Hdd's because I have problems getting all the partions to work/be seen after setting them up in fdisk, I havn't got the nack/figured out how to set up any partions other then having the whole Hdd as "C" and have them work/been seen.
