I'm about to build a new P4 machine and will be using the 2 hard drives from my Athlon machine. I already knew that I should do a clean install of the OS (WinXP Home) but I've been told that I should delete all partitions and format the drives.
I'd like some confirmation that I have to totally wipe the drives. Though what I really need to know is - if I need to wipe them, should I write zero's to the drives (low level format?), would that do it? What about the Boot record sector thingy? What would you do?

PS - the 2 drives are both Western Digital JB's (8MB cache). One 120GB (primary) and one 80GB (which doesn't have a primary partition). Oh and they're both NTFS.
