What operating system is the computer running?

How are you connecting it to your cable internet?

On the IE screen, have you tried hitting the Detect Network connections?

Go to "start" and then "run"

In the box that pops up type ( no quotes) "winipcfg" and then in the window that shows up click the drop down arrow and change it from PPP adapter to whatever your network card is.

What it says for ip addies and what not could be used to help let you know what the problem is. Try clicking "renew all" and see if that helps. ( you have to click the advanced button before you will see the renew all option ).
