I am new to this site, sure glade I found it. Lots of great info here.

I just got DSL at my house and have only had it for a week. I started having connection issues after only a few days. I can connect all the time but after 5 to 30 min I seem to loose my connection. When I try going to another site or refreshing it just comes up "unable to connect to server or cannot publish this page".
As stated in an earlier post, I have powered off both modem and computer. This seems to remedy the problem for a short time only. I have run spyware, anti-virus, shut off my firewall. Nothing seems to work for long.
I have only 2 options for anything other than dial-up in my area as I am on a coop phone service and have yet to find any other service available to me from outside the area. They all have to run long distance numbers etc. Dish or satellite is available but not in the budget.
The phone company here has NO tech support other than telling me I have dial tone to my line.:hammer:

Any suggestions would be gggrrrreeeeaaaattly appreciated.

Well, the phone guy came in, unplugged my phone, plugged in a splitter filter (one side filtered one not) plugged the power cord in to the modem, the phone line to the modem the lan cable from the modem to my laptop ran a small setup and said "great, its working" and left. It worked for about 5 days with no problems now it only works for a while. Infact after I posted the first time, it quit working and I had to power down everything in order to get it working again.
I went is ti ipconfig and checked the settings and even when connected and working it came up with ip address and a few other umber strings than said "media state disconected". Don't know if that means anything or not.

I am running win xp with the latest security updates and explorer 6.0.29

Nothing else seems to lock up or function properly.

I had qwest DSL for about 4 yrs up until 4 yrs ago when I got a cable line and I haven't looked back. I had intermittent connectivity issues all the time.

Finally I ran my own high end cable from the phone box outside my house to my modem. After I did that, my issues were gone..

Ok, here's what I have tried. New phone lines. I havea also run a ping test and found it to have no errors even after connection has failed it still keeps pingging. power down modem and computer. This always seems to reset something allowing me to get online again. It may be something to do with network settings. I was doing clean-up in New Orleans last year for Katrina and since I was the only laptop and air card they set mine up to connect to a network in Colorado. I have the admin account but don't know much about the setup. I have disabled all network connections, deleted all other connections (modem, aircard, etc) and still have the same problem.

My connection works fine for 5-30 min than comes up "server can not be found"

I did a right click on the page and hit page info than I get "The description for Event ID (19011) in Source (MSSQL$MICROSOFRBCM) cannot be found.he local computer may not havae the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote compuer. You may ve avle to use the /AUXSOURCE=flag to retrieve this diescrpition; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: (SpnRegistry) : Error 1355".

I tried the Help and Support and didnt find anything that was not done already.

I have run ad-aware, AVG virus, zone alarm firewall, so I don't think it's a virus or anything like that but I could be wrong

Yesterday I had to reboot about 20 times and today already it's been 7 times and it's not even noon yet.

Thanks for your help.
