 :cuffed:
Good morning all, I'll provide as much information as I can:
Hardware:
P4 1.8 ghz 1gig ram 40 gig hd HP Compaq d330
Windows XP Professional all patches and hot fixes...."except for SP2"
Westell Versalink 327 wireless router/modem
Connection:
Verizon DSL
Software:
setup 1.16.exe - http://www.devside.net/web/server/free/download
Java EE SDK/including JDK 5.0 - http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/download.jsp
DirectUpdate DNS Dynamic Updater - http://www.directupdate.net/
Macromedia Dreamweaver MX 2004
Domain Information:
Domain name provided by Network Solutions - http://www.networksolutionsretail.com/small-business-solutions/:
http://www.porubskihome.com
DNS nameservers provided by Zoneedit.com - http://www.zoneedit.com:
ns12.zoneedit.com
ns14.zoneedit.com
I have successfully installed the "Apache for windows" software along with the Java software.
However, when I start my machine "Apache 2" service automatically starts.
I then open through "Java PE" the java db, and the default server. The default server doesn't start though because
Apache 2 is already running. I then have to shut down Apache 2, then the default server service
can be started. Wierd thing is, Apache wants me to store my domain in the www\webroot folder.
Java wants me to store my site in Sun\AppServer\domains\domain1\docroot. This is the directory
where my site is currently being stored. I can view my site on my home network by entering either
the IP or URL + :8080 on the end. I cannot see my site publicly though. I have port forwarded the
static IP created on my router to port 8080 as host. I can ping my site, I just cannot view it publicly
I definitely did something wrong here, as I'm just a rookie with this. I desperately want to get my
site up and running so that I can show my family pictures and stuff. My router is flying wide open too
I'm getting tons of virus notifications and all kinds of spyware popups and self installs. Does anybody
know how I can close some stuff up so only my site can get out too?
Thanks everybody, I look forward to your expert help.
