I have many questions about this one????
Can it be installed wothout admin Priv.?
If installed local by a local user would it record a su to Admin?

I've only run it on win95 boxes - so I don't know for sure.....

Here's an idea -

go to the AT&T web site -

get the full version of VNC -

you'd need the admin password to install the service element, and then you'd have to hack it to make sure the indicator icon didn't show in the systray - but otherwise - you can see everything the user sees while on another PC connected to the same network realtime.

That also means you still only see stars when they type in their password.

As for NT password crackers - there are enough of them out there..... try lophtcrack or many of the others - I've even heard of a linux boot diskette that will crack an encrypted local admin password right out of the machine without ever loading the os.

Note that if you do any of this on a corporate network, you'd probably be handed a box and shown the door the next day - so I don't really advise it for anything other than keeping tabs on what your kid is doing on their home PC.
