now you can tell FP to "publish" the site. It will pull up a series of dialog boxes asking you for info. Type in the URL of the website and then it will ask you for the user name and password for that site (you can also use the admin and admin pw for the server) and have it do it's thing.

this bites. it willn't work. says there is no web server at that location {http//madfish.d2g.com/home} so I guess I need to load office on the server and screw around again for 4-5 hrs and redo the dam thing, if this don't work this time I'll be really ticked off. I got the web site info set up correct afaik in w2k pro. got the right port forwarded.
I do have from MS partnerters 120 day unlimited use evals. .NET Enterrprise servers,
Small business server 2000, and advance server 2000, and SQL server 2000. Plus my own 2000 server. Mike do I need to use a regualr server OS instead of w2k pro? or should I just load it into the box and point it to the dir where I want it when making the site?

edit: well I figured out why it wouldn't transfer, but durning it, I said some parts wouldn't work as I didn't have front page extension thingy and some other kind of app proggy. I'm lost. I'm comendeering the kids machine to play around with these different OS's I have. I not screwing up my soho box trying to figure this all out.

Bright side :D at least the FTP is up and running smooth :D
ftp.madfish.d2g.com if you can't get in, lol too bad. I'm only allowing 2 connections for now.

You can host a website on pro but it will be limited to only a few people visiting it at the same time....Server will allow unlimited visitors at the same time.

Mad you might take a look at www.dslwebserver.com and their tutorials. :)

I know pro can host it, visitor max limit is 10 connections at one time. FP in office xp said I needed FP server xtensions for it to work properly and something eles, I lost the screen shot trying to convert it to jpeg. [don't ask me how ether]
I read that sites tutorials and thats why I want to host my own site, great learning experence and more control over what I can do and add to the site and, the big plus, NO BANNER ADS or POP UPS!

To add the FP xtenstions :

within the IIS admin screen right click the website and choose "All tasks" and then "config server extenstions" then just work then the wizard and poof your site now has fp extenstions :)

Ahhhhh, cool.
I'm going to use the kids machine as it had office xp already on it {I sneak it on the lappy just to be different and it needs to come off} and I'll go from there, I'll use their machine as the web site for now till I get this all figured out. they can use the drake box for online, heheheh it has built in games anyhow.
Stand by...........
