Upgraded my GA-7DXR to the 7VAXP a couple of days ago. Running Samsung PC3200 DDR in it. When I first installed the CPU..the lever seemed to be catchy..all went well though. Today, I pulled the cpu and hs/fan to install a thermo sensor for a Thermaltake Hardcano2. Tidied up wires in the case etc.
Went to power it up..nothing..zilch..no beeps..no post. I have it on the bench now with just ram..vid card and PS. Could it be the lever not contacting the CPU pins properly?

That could be a possablity as you must have a cpu in place and functioning to get beeps/post info. When you pulled the CPU to do the thermo do you think you might have crushed the die when putting it back togather? (freaking amd poor design)

The CPU is fine, I swapped in a working 1.4 and still the same problem. Hmm..the ram is brand new..

Hmmm.... I'm sure you've tried reseting the bios?

the lever seemed to be catchy

I wonder if something could have broke in the socket and when you released it that was enough to dislodge it.

Has anyone ever taken one of these apart to see how the really work?

There are no bios reset jumpers on this board for some reason..what I will never know..LOL..but I did pull the battery overnight. Still dead..mobo lights up..the ram LED comes on..HD spins..fans spin..nothing.

I tried the ram, vid card and cpu in anther machine...this one actually, and they all work fine.

speedman..I have taken one apart before..and I'm thinking that the lever isn't pushing the contacts over enough to get a good connection between the cpu and the mainboard.

It's being replaced tomorrow...there is a lot to be said about dealing with a local small shop.

Done deal..replacement is in, and all is well..runs great
:)
the "non-supported" DDR 3200 really makes a seat of the pants difference
