Just read this article [H]ard put out over a month ago (yes, I know it's "old" but remember I've been off the net in the last 2 1/2 months) and found it interesting and informative. Looks like the performance comparison between the XP and the Intel equivalent is neck and neck w/the XP taking the lead more than Intel. Unfortunately, as stated by AMD it's another "Paper Launch" meaning none of us enthusiasts will get our hands on one for awhile...late this month if were lucky. Paired with the new nForce2 mobo chipset this cpu is killer, unfortunately the mobo will be hard to find also.
For the complete jist on the new CPU check out the article here. (http://www.hardocp.com/article.html?art=MzY0)

I'm with the Snowman. The latest and greatest is too rich for my blood. :bunny:
I will have to say that the XP2400+ are a smoking deal for the performance though. (and they unlock very very easily) I have mine running at an XP2700+ rating with the fsb at 166 and a 13X mult. ...I believe that these (xp2700's) are running for $350.00 at newegg and the XP2400's are only $180.

Wow! Nice save, hifi. Btw, what do you use for cooling (cpu, case, etc)?
Can you show us some benchmark comparisons too? (Sandra?)
My next systems won't be AMD... Intel for me...

The XP 2800+ is nice & everything, but, there going to be too darn much, the few 2700's that are out there are pricey enough already about $400, same goes for the 333FSB 2600's, over at http://www.OCSystem.com they've got an unlocked XP 2400+ on an Abit board, with 256MB of, I think it was Geil CAS2 DDR400 maybe 433, anyways its OCed to perform at the same level as a 2900+ would assuming there was a 2900+, all that for about 450-500 buckaroo's, about the same price as a top of the line XP. The only thing is that you have to make sure you have a good enough cooling set-up & your case & PS can handle this OCed Beast, other than that you can get as good if not better performance out of it than the as yet to be seen elusive XP 2800+.
