A new poll was needed. :D

Personally i play all sorts of games, i'm pretty much a hardcore gamer so to speak, been playing games since i was like 6 (it's when i got my GameBoy), anyway i really play it all, racing games, shooting games, RPG's, strategy games.

If i would have to name a favorite game then it would be a hard choice between GTA3, GTA Vice City and GTA San Andreas, those games just got it all, and i can't wait for the next 1, such huge improvements keep being made, that allows newer version to keep becoming bigger and bigger, that the next GTA or the 1 after that will be simply huge, and hopefully they will use a new engine with the next 1, as the current 1 really limits the graphics.

I went for 'I don't play games', because I very rarely do these days.

I loved GTA2 when it came out, also Airport Sim game, but don't have time at the moment.

I never actually played GTA 2 much, i did play lots and lots of GTA, that game was so awesome, i just loved it.
When GTA 3 came out i had some serious doubts, but they were able to make the game even better.

Was hoping the poll was setup so that you could pick multiple entries...but oh well.

God the first gaming system I got was the Atari 2600. Yes...I'm old. When I was in Highschool though is when the arcade boom hit with Capcom's Street Fighter II and all the copycats of it. Only God knows how much money I spent at those arcades.

My games are a little different that most. I play GTA3 and GTA:SA a lot. Its fun to drive around and pretend your the bad guy. All guys go through that stage.

I like RPGs more than anything. Guild Wars is my favorite but I also enjoy TheAnimaRO (Ragnarok Online). The RO is a 2d/3d combination game with lots of colorful characters and fun for the whole family. Anime type of drawings BTW.

Guild wars keeps me on edge with the action and playing around. I am not very good but I am enjoying the action and graphics. The book, which I got to help me with attributes, is wonderful.

So all in all .. I like action and somethings less than action sometimes.

I would like to play them more but I am somehow unable to play the fun ones.

I LOVED the command and conquer series but I was unable to play them for more than 5 minutes at a time, they make me too nervous.

My all time favorite is virtual pool, preferably version 2 but as 3 is the only one that will work with xp and w2k it is fine as well.

Ive got a timed chicken hunting game I like as well plus my darts and I love to play cribbage.

I voted "I don't play games"

Solitaire is about it for me. Never saw a game that looked interesting enough to play.

Definitely Strategy games and RPG games are my all time favorites. C&C and Warcraft games were always good although I don't much like the new one (WoW) as it draws a very immature crowd. Shooters generally bore me quickly, maybe because I had to shoot real weapons in the Army, I don't know. Puzzle games can be fun, but hold my interest only briefly. Solitaire is always good! Since I have little time to enjoy gaming, I generally stick to my favorites. EverQuest II is the deepest, most complex game I have played in the last decade and it is about the only game I play on my PC. It's beautiful, but you need a strong rig to enjoy it. Basically, if you can play EQII on high settings you can max out the settings on games like far cry, doom and quake that they always use as benchmarks. I have never seen any game that pushes PC technology like EQII. Oblivion is my other current favorite that I am playing. One of my favorite all time games was Neuromancer that I played on my C64 back in the 80s. Anbody else remember that one?

This is a very odd comment to me, the system requirements are that of a PC of like 3-4 years old, it uses shader models 1 and basicly doesn't look that amazing, sure it's not bad, but you say you play Oblivion, well that game looks way better, and if there is a game that pushes PC technology then it's Oblivion, it uses shader models 2 only, HDR and physics (although they are bad), Oblivion is the most demanding game to date. And even if we take aside Oblivion, then games like Fear would still beat EQII easily.

Actually I just read the other day (at XS or hCw), that Oblivion uses some sort of Emulated or fake HDR like the FarCry HDR patch or something like that...?

Anyways, pretty much same response as Kev... 100-200 games some of which I havent opened or if I have, havent installed yet... Then factor in the 1.5GB's of Roms... (SNES, N64, GB, GBC, GBA, Genesis, NES)...

& if not sticking strictly to PC games, 2 Dreamcasts, 2 Jaguars, 2 SNES's, N64, XBox, Genesis, & several of those Plug & Play game units with a dozen or more classic games on them that you plug into your TV... Play those more often than the console systems :D

But as to PC gaming, I primarily play First Person Shooters... Been addicted to them since Wolfenstein 3D & its sequel The Spear Of Destiny, as well as original DOOM...

lately in the last few years, I only play Half Life 2, DOOM 3 & those type offline... only ones I ever really play online are the Military Shooters like Black Hawk Down (even though this one is basically a Miliarized Quake/Counterstrike type game), Joint Operations (modified version of BHD, but offers a heck of a lot more in actual strategy & tactics as well as goals to achieve)... years ago, used to play Ghost Recon & Operation Flashpoint... have played Battlefield 2... but its just not the same as JO... & I actually still in many ways prefer to play BF1942 & the Desert Combat/DCX mod over BF2...

But I also play some other types of games, like Space Combat Shooters, Like the old classic FreeSpace 2 & some of the mods for it, like the Babylon 5 mod... also the free to download space sim/shooter, Babylon 5: I've Found Her, Pretty sweet realistic in many ways to the show space shooter, where you fly one of the StarFurys from the show...

I have yet to even get into the first part of X2: The Threat, have only done half of the training missions, & gotta still buy X3: Reunion.

I miss the Old Wing Commander series, of which my favorite was the last one Wing Commander: Prophecies, & its add-on... But also loved FreeSpace 2, just wish there was a new FreeSpace game coming out, but havent heard anything.

Just sucks that I dont have any room to use my Flight stick & throttle set up, as well as the mouse & keyboard... but may fix that later this summer, getting a table for other side of room for the TV & to "work" on my PC & stuff... as well as maybe make a dedicated PC to use for those types of games, so I have more room to use that stuff with them...

So for now I have to use the Logitech controller (looks like a PS2 controller), works, but sucks sometimes...

anyways I also play some RTS type games from time to time, lately (in last 4-5 months or so), Ive Played Immortal Cities: Children of The Nile, which I Still havent mastered even slightly... & Stronghold & Stronghold 2...

But for most part I play a little of everything, including Bejeweled 2 Deluxe (which I managed to find out how to modify the scoring & reduce the timers speed, to "cheat" at getting a rediculously high score, last time I checked my score in one mode was over 500 Million, another mode it was near 700 Million  )

games I'm looking forward to getting or trying in near future is the so called add-on or sequel to HL2, FEAR, Oblivion, Operation Flashpoint 2, & some others...

also might look into buying one of those Nintendo Wii's when they come out, even though I hate the stupid name for them...

anyways...

I selected shooting as it was the closest match to what I play the most. In reality, I'll play pretty much anything really, I've got Hoyles solitare and majong that I play often if I just want to kill 10 minutes or so, but if I'm in the mood for a good 2-3 hour blast, it's got to be 1st person shoot-em-up. Depending on my mood though, sometimes I prefer a doom3 type game rather than a HL2 type game, one requires shooting at anything that moves, the other is more a thinking type game. Been adicted to those type games since original doom. I also like the command and conquer type games, played the entire War craft games and start craft. The one I do keep coming back to though is GTA3 and GTA-SA - Those games just got it all.
Racing games are pretty cool too, loved NFS-MW, and had a blast last week with GT3 on the PS2 - that was great fun.

The only games I don't play are the online type games such as Everquest. I prefer playing with myself :bunny:
Now if that isn't an opening for a good reply, I don't know what is :D

That would have been a good opening if it wasn't for you posting that last line. ;)

Anyway i got the same, sometimes i just want to blast, while other times strategy and careful playing is my style, usually i can combine that in a game of CS, get a shotgun and just rush, kill ratio usually not that great, but it is fun. :D

I also started playing Warcraft 3 a while ago, it's pretty cool, but it's not a game i want to play online, same as with C&C games, the players you got there are so advanced, and basicly rush you, whereas i like to build a big base.
In Generals Zero Hour i usually don't attack the enemy (except for super weapons) untill my base is so strong that it's nearly impossible for them to penetrate it.
