I have an old Dell system that has a slot 1 PIII 650 CPU currently installed. I picked up a slotket and PIII 733 socket 370 which the board supports. I installed the slotket and cpu with the correct jumpers and turned the machine on. hmmmmmmm, not even the case fan would turn. The motherboard light lights up but thats all. Take the slotket out and throw in the old CPU and away it goes.

Tried auto config with the jumpers and manual settings. Could I be having an bus conflict? If the bus speed on the board is different than the cpu (I have to check), would that cause the issue?

The PIII 650 was a 100mhz bus processor, right? The PIII 733 is probably a 133mhz bus chip. Check w/Dell to see if that box will support a 133 bus speed chip...;)

Thanks for the input! I will check that out, sux if it is 133 bus on the chip and board cannot support it.

My account was maxed out and could take anymore email. Should be good to go now!

Thanks all!!

You could have a voltage problem. Check to see that the voltage is set correctly on the board. There could be a menu in the bios to adjust the voltage too.

The board can handle only 100 so I will be getting another board soon I hope. Thx for the input though! :D
