hi everyone, i've been burning some music files onto cd.. and they played in everything i've tried them in, my question is they stopped working in my little ghetto blaster i have at my gf's place... all weekend they played just fine...now nothing, they wont read ..the light just flashes like it's trying but nothing...any suggestions as to how to avoid this again or cure this...if it helps they are made with 2 different proggies.

cd1- nero
cd2-adaptec v4

btw, the blaster is 5 years old, with light to moderate usage..

The laser read head in CD equipment is as prone to failure and a limited live like all other hardware. The thing is, it would probably be more expensive to fix the hardware than it would be to treat yourself early for christmas.

Do regular store bought music CD's work in the unit? - I'm betting not. If they do, you might have a dirty mirror or laser diode in your box. You might invest in a cleaner CD that further focuses and burns off any dirt on the laser diode or the receiver in the unit, but I've very rarely ever seen a cleaner CD bring a unit back to life. - That'd set you back about $15 to get.

I'm always tickled that they want a $30 fee to tell you that your equipent needs a $5 part replaced in it..... but then repairmen have to be paid by the hour too.....
