Greetings... I am looking at this board for someone that is upgrading and asked for suggestions: Gigabyte GA-8SG667,SIS 648 chipset Socket 478 P4 ATX motherboard. NewEgg has it for $95. He wants a currently fast board (he is running a PC133 board with a NorthWood :()with future expansion options- this board will run DDR400, but I recommended going with DDR333 for now until 400 is more developed. Also, although the board specs dont state it, I have read that the SIS648 chipset will support up to a 3g P4. He currently has a 1.8. He doesnt want raid or any other features. The board needs to come in under $110... so this looks like a good board for a nice price (although not very feature rich- accessories).

Does anyone have any opinions on the SIS 648 chipset? I personally prefer Intel of Via chipsets, but only because I dont have any experience with any other chipsets. I have also looked at MSI, Asus and AOpen boards with the Same DDR and 8x options and they all exceed the $110 mark.

Thanks for your Input.

Looks like a fairly nice board...I would have to go looking for reviews as I have no personal experience with that board to even offer a semi knowlegble answer

Thanks MntSnow- I suggested this board or the MSI Model 648 Max-L. The MSI is actually a nicer looking board (only supports up to PC333) with onboard sound and LAN, but it comes in at around $110. After looking at this latter board, I might pick it up for myself sometime soon ;). I included a couple links and reviews for each board in an email to him and he is going to let me know which he wants- He will probably go with the Titan.
