OK here's the deal................;)

Someone gave me a Hewlett Packard Deskjet 682C with no cartridges in it.

So I did something that I have never done and bought (As Surreal would say) some cheesy cartridges made by Pelikan.

Now when I do the clean cartridges routine both the color and the black print fine. But when I try to print anything the black doesn't print.

What I did notice was that the black cartridge is cracked right on the front radius vertically and it leaks a little. Are these things supposed to be air tight?

The Q here is do you think I should invest in another cartridge or just heave the whole mess in the trash...............

Well I would borrow a ink cart that is known to be good just to fully test the system....With the price of a new color inkjet being so low I would probably trash it before I bought a new ink cart as it's half the price of a new printer!

Update!

I went and bought another Pelikan special and it works just fine.

So I'm going to take back the leaky one and exchange it.

I go right by Walmart all the time so it's no biggy.

So if you ever get a cracked cartridge the odds are it won't work.

This is for my daughters machine so when the ink runs out I'll prolly just buy her a new printer.

Thanks for the input Mntsnow................:D
