View Full Version : Bought asus GForce4 - sick of ATI
Having fits with ATI drivers of late and I'm sick of messing with it -
So - went online to my favorite vendor and picked up an ASUS V8170DDR GeForce 4 MX440 card -
Overkill for my needs, but the price was right at $95 plus shipping.
And I might be getting access to a 19 inch monitor for this soon.
It also has the TV out so I can easily transfer things to a VHS or other stuff. That might help me add captions and subtitles to my planned second how to make Chainmail video.....
Ah - net impulse buying - beats browsing the mall any day.....
Anyone want a 32mb Radeon ATI card cheap?

I have an ASUS V7700 GTS 32mb and it has run flawlessly for more than a year now. I have its replacement on the way also. I went for a GF4 TI4200, it was my birthday so what the hell.
Yea Net shopping sure beats the mall or BestBuy any day. Much better selection too.
and they mail it to your house - or office - no lines - no rude check-out type dudes - etc. etc.

why does everybody have to keep fussing around with vid-card drivers for? I''m using the ones that came on the cd with my cards and they work fine

Simple answer! for better performance!!!
Turns out Axion farmed this out to a vendor who let them down..... But I called them and they are express shipping the card out to me shortly..... Hope to have it for an install this week-end
The ASUS Gforce 4 - 64 is now installed - happy happy joy joy.....
The ati card and all references to it in the registry are not out.
It's a PCI card - Mt - so not sure if you're still interested....
Otherwise it's available unless Jadison claims it for himself.....
I'm being paged in the kitchen for ice-cream by a daughter who did finish her dinner - so I have to run.....
:D
one question - anyone think I should re-install DirectX8.1 after the card swap? - note - also moved the network card closer to the CPU for more juice.....
now THIS is TOO funny - was posting that I liked the speed of this video card - and it came back that the site blocked more than 2 posts per 30 seconds......
the windows post speed on this card rocks.....
Ice-cream delivered - dogs have been for their nightly stroll in the back yard -
