Is it just me or are olives awesome

i don't know about you but i love olives. does anyone else?
everytime i go to the store i get a big ten oz. jar of the green spanish ones, and it is gone by the end of that day (unhealthy but o so good)

i just don't see alot of olive talk around here ^_^

edit: i have yet to try the greek olives but i am sure they are good, i read the olive encyclapedia article and they seemed good

Oh you gotta try the greek ones.

They come in so many varieties, if you ever go into a greek supermarket you'll get mad with them. With free sampling and at least 50 varieties in display last time I spent 45 minutes tasting all of them. By the time I chose I was full :)

Olives (and olive oil) are still a sacred thing to greek people. Kids grow up eating slices of bread with olive oil and oregano (an a touch of sea salt).

I'm moving to Athens by X-mass and I'll get back to eating greek. Olives are a must, everyday!

BTW, if you're having a drink in the evening, scotch or anything, try some olives (large green ones) along! It's a killer combination (you can drink amazing quantities :))

thanks for the info, i have never tried any greek food at all.... i dont know if we have a greek store..... maybe in "greek town" (at least thats what the signs say)

Several years back, an American Airlines exec wrote an order having olives removed from all of the on-flight salads as no-one appeared to be eating them - He saved the company thousands of dollars.

One point of view might have been they should have had better olives - You missed your calling :D just a few years too late - :rolleyes:

I'm a junkie f/them. don't know the different kinds. I just eat them all. and my cat even eat the black one's off a pizza!!

to me they seem to please a craveing you have for something, when you don't know what you want.

but, than I did have a real use for them. back in the days of a happyhour drink.

I like olives just fine... not by the jarful tho LOL. They're pretty fattening so I don't pop em in my mouth at random.

I like olives, either green or black.
What I want to know is who was the guy who took a fruit off the olive tree, a fruit that makes you deathly sick and thought...."I am going to throw this poison fruit in some lye and then eat it, and see if that will make it taste good and not kill me:)

Those little Spanish olives are the best!

I will have to see about those Greek ones.

I'm sure I can find some around here, we have a small town here called GREECE, so I might go there and see;)

We go through about 30-40 jars a year, at least!!
