House I was at earlier today, has 2 ADSL Broadband lines coming in. One for business, one for home use. The business one connects to one computer only. The home use one has a network of 2 computers wired, and one roaming wireless. Was working nicely, till network switch failed, I replaced that today.

I had been connecting to the home DSL via the socket it was wired into in a new extension. The electrician called today and fitted a double faceplate, so that both DSL lines can be accessed in the same room.

Thing is, now neither of them work from that socket! They have telephone signal, and can be dialled out from, but the DSL won't connect!

I figure the guy has wired them wrongly, is there any way of checking this?

I'm no phone engineer, loadsa different coloured wires in there!

Do they need a filter put on them?

Just realised - Did you mean filters built in to the faceplate, C-C?

Would the wiring be too 'noisy' in a normal double faceplate?

You got me exploring that angle now, thanx David! :D

DSL filters are for the phones only. Now thats the first time I have seen a problem disrcibed as noisy....... Do not forget to check your resets on routers and the DSL modem.

Modem and Router both working properly - tested!

Lines working, just no DSL! DSL signal available in other phone sockets ( also filtered ) in house!

I have installed several DSL setups and never used a filter on the network or the phone line to the modem. The filters were used for the phones directly.

I've only hooked up 2 DSL connections before, so I wasn't sure - I didn't know.
