The image of the Lego race car is the first time I've noticed it...but it is pretty severe. Yuck.

Anyways, NDC I was going to point out to you the amazing detail on that Lego racer, but the detail is gone on the photo in gallery, so check it out here:

Look at the individual Lego blocks that make up the car. That's just amazingly real looking detail. My jaw is still on the ground.

BTW, I am NOT complaining here nor am I intentionally being disruptive. I'm honestly just pointing out something that you may or may not already be aware of. If you were aware of this, then nevermind. ;) If you weren't aware of it, then you are now.

Dont complain to me...Complain to Scott at Photopost. But of course the images aren't going to be a "clean" ....COMPRESSION...I dont know of many places that are going to allow large images without compression for free unless they are a photo related site...

Well after checking out this same image at TechIMO, it seems this issue doesn't exist over there. The image in the TechIMO gallery is identical to the original.

So I dunno. It would seem that maybe it's a setting or configuration option within PhotoPost.

Your "original" is 103K in size...The Photopost image is 25K in size...1/4th the file size...Of course something has to give

Hey you changed your post as I was typing.

Ok. JPG compression explains it. I got no problem with it, so long as we all know what's going on.

I believe Scott is also using the GD imaging support which is in beta (doesnt support Gif and a couple of other image formats) where as the "imagemagik" that my version of PP uses supports more image formats. Also the Image at Techimo has had NO compression as it's the same 103K that your original image was.

Well actually it DOES have compression in it's original form because it's already a JPG. And yeah, that's what I was saying, the image there is the actual image I posted, not an altered representation of it.

I would be inclinded to not re-compress or over-compress pictures that are compressed in the first place. If file size is a concern then why not just tighten up the file size restrictions for uploading photos?

[shrug] But hey, this is your abode, run it however you want...and I'll have no problems with it. I haven't up till now. And it's only an issue with this image because the whole beauty of this rendering is in it's fine detail. Most photos it doesn't matter.
