Even nicer price now that it comes with an 18 gig HD compaired to the 9 gig a while ago

I might just have to order one just to see if I can get it to work in a pc after flashing it with a 2940U2 for pc bios/firmware...Atleast at that point 99 bucks for a 18gig Scsi HD isnt to much of a loss if the card wont work

I don't think this unit will work with XP, don't know why I think that, just seems that way :)
The 18Gb is a 7200 rpm and the 9.1 is 10000rpm. Would a SCSI 72000 be faster than my 72000 ata 100 drive?
I've seen the cards from $55 and up depending on what version of the 2940 here http://www.basoncomputer.com/productlist.asp?009280870
I had trouble finding anything at adaptecs site, they got several in the 2940 family, but I didn't see anything for the 2940U2
I've flashed several of my mb's mntsnow, is flashing the adapter cards anything like that?
Going from the pictures at the above site, the 2 cards U2 and U2B are physically different. Looks to me like the U2 has 2 68 pin connectors and the U2 has one!

The scsi drive will have better performace over the IDE drive as well as has a much higher MTBF life cycle
Sorry 2940u2W for the bios/firmware

The SCSI drive would have better system performance for a couple of reasons.
1. SCSI drives typically have faster internal transfer rates.
2. Also usually have faster seek times.
3. The BIGGIE, SCSI drives have an onboard CPU on the controller card that totally unoads the main processor allowing true multitasking that winderz was designed to do but fails miserably due to HD bottlenecks..
All this is AFAIK as usual.
and, your mileage may vary :D
