I am sorry to report, that Plextor will no longer build SCSI drives

The last SCSI CDRW from them will be the 12/10/32 (a bit outdated), while the UltraPlex is most probably not being built anymore and will stop selling as soon as stock runs out. Mind you this last statement may well be a marketing trick to get everyone buying an Ultraplex as I personally see no reason why they should stop building it.

All SCSI users are moaning the loss (I know I am) and look elsewhere for their optical needs.

As I've said this before, it's a real pity Plextor full jumped out of the SCSI market! :(

And it appears everybody else has as well. So that was it for SCSI burners. No more to come!

THe last SCSI burners are:

The 20x10x40 from Yamaha (2200S) which is an IDE + convertor (but works fine).

The 16x10x40 from Yamaha (2100S) but not one of their best drives I'm affraid.

The 24x10x40 from Sanyo (OEM and difficult to find)

The 12x10x32 from Plextor.

The future, for people like who don't want IDE burners is firewire but the price tag is very high.

Here's a big SIGH!

And as of right now, I'll take my 12/10/32s Plex over any IDE burner any day!

Maybe manufacturers that make SCSI CDRW drives just don't feel they necessary anymore? I remember the days when simple multi-tasking would cause buffer underruns on IDE CDRW drives where SCSI wouldn't because it's not CPU dependent as the IDE burners. However, with the technology they're using these days, they seem to have overcome that problem to a certain extent. I use an IDE interface CD burner for my primary system and I've had very few bad burns on my Plextor 8/4/32 while multi-tasking.
