While disabling admin default shares (http://www.xtremepccentral.com/vbforums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=18), I notice a tab called Web Sharing (Explorer, Local Disk; right click, Properties, Web Sharing).

Ok, so, for the drive on which my website files are on, I would assume I want to "Share on... [website name], yes?

So, when I hit the radio button "Share this folder", and it opens the Edit Alias dialogue box, what do I enter in the "Alias:" text field - the name of my website without http:// ?

Thanks..........!!

No need too.....When using that option what your basically doing is creating a SHARE to INCLUDE that drive in to your website....Basically makes everything on that drive part of your website....not a good thing unless you really want to do so

Now, again...

the 'Web Sharing' has been enabled for the actual root dir of the site.. this should be allowed, no?

It seems to be the default setting as it will not unshare, and it's set to the "Default Web Site" and not my "named site"..

thanks..!
