I was shot down when I warned powerful earth quakes could continue in the same area for extended periods of time. I 'm sorry to have proof of being right in this case, extended aftershocks will continue for years, and they do not always deminish. An 8.2 is something you do not want to be near.

Not an 8.2 anymore... been upgraded to an 8.7 by the USGS.
The U.S. Geological Survey has raised the magnitude of the earthquake that shook Southeast Asia today to 8.7. The quake struck off the west coast of Indonesia, raising worries of another tsunami like the one that devastated the region in late December. There was heavy damage on Indonesia's Simeulue Island, according to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.

2.0 1 ton Large Quarry or Mine Blast
2.5 4.6 tons
3.0 29 tons
3.5 73 tons
4.0 1,000 tons Small Nuclear Weapon
4.5 5,100 tons Average Tornado (total energy)

10.0 1 trillion tons (San-Andreas type fault circling Earth)
12.0 160 trillion tons (Fault Earth in half through center,
OR Earth's daily receipt of solar energy)
I was in an 8.2 on Guam in 1993, it had some power, that's for sure
