I'm a tile setter and I'm really annoyed right now.
I arrived at the new house I'm working on and there was a sheriff parked out side this morning.I went inside and found the house had been vandalised last night. Somebody broke a window and entered. Then they broke some more windows, poked holes in the drywall and the worst of all they took a 5 gal container of contaminated diesel and poured it over about 500 sqft of freshly grouted tile.So I take the day off (grr)while the general contractor pays his guys to clean up the house. The tile is going to be fine but I bet the grout is going to need to be scraped out and re-grouted (just about my least favourite thing in the world to do)
The contractor has insurance but it will still cost him a $500 deductable.
The strangest thing is there was about $5,000 of air tools left lying around by the trim crew and they didn't take a thing. My wet-saw was there full of water with full mortor bags sitting around not touched.
Maybe it was kids, but who knows ?
Anway I'm pissed off and I lost a days work, thanks for listening.

It was kids.

In certain sections of town we had to pull the feeder wires in the day FP&L came out to make the meter hot so crack heads would not pull the wire out for the copper.

We've had similar occurances out here in California. It turned out to be kids, but they were part of an eco-terror group, Earth Liberation Front (ELF).

They'd go in smash stuff up , and spray paint things, but usually would leave tools and equpment would attempt to burn the place down.

Sounds like it could have been similar, but they didnt realize that the diesel wouldnt burn. A growing trend....

Our house we built 2yrs ago out side of town became so kids party spot one night :( They broke in and partied in the house trashing it not to mentioned used any place they could find for a bathroom. We had to clean for 3 days to clean all of it up. After that we left Biff our 105 lb rot in the house at night while we were still building it.
