the thing that is bothering me most is the difference of size and associativity between the L1 and L2 cache..

Welcome to the Forums!

That's normal and nothing that you can change in any event. The easy way to check for dual channel operation is in the BIOS POST screen. It will specifically list dual channel operation. If that does not show dual channel, then check to make sure that it is enabled in BIOS and that the RAM is in the appropriate slots. Recheck at this point. If it still doesn't show as dual channel, then contact OCZ's tech support. They are excellent.

thanks for the welcome and advice

i just want to clarify that i shouldn't be worried about the differences of size and associativity between the L1 and L2 cache?

The sizes and associativity are hardware bound within the processor core. There are no possible adjustments to these items.
