View Full Version : BBA's Newest Monster
Just put together my new P4 2.0a GHz on my $59 Gigabyte GA-8IRXP motherboard. I had a memory issue first off...the PC 2700 Samsung would not work at 333 with auto cas settings...so I set them to 2.5/3 instead...I could run the fsb to 125 with the 2.66 fsb/mem setting. I dropped it to 2.0x and cranked the cpu up to 133MHz...but the boot screen reported it as 132 MHz, so I bumped it up one more. Well....just look at sandra screens:
So here is the Multimedia score:
Ooops...sorry, I must have missed the 'alt' print screen...maybe I'll crop the picture later.
I've decided what to do....I'm going to take the memory back tomorrow. I'll order some PC3000 so I can run at 365-370 MHz DDR and in the mean time, use some old PC2100 I have for now.
I still have to migrate my normal system to server duty so I can move my GF3 into this new machine, and my TB Santa Cruz sound card.
It will probably be next week sometime before I get it all situated the way it needs to be.
.....I'm all happy now :)

Sweet! What are you using for cooling again? (HSF, case fans?)
Nices scores...you have WCPUID?
I'm using the stock Intel heatsink/fan with radio shack silicone heat sink compound. The case has a 120 MM exhaust fan and some custom air channelling, ala BBA.
I just ordered a Thermaltake volcano copper heatsink, and a 512 M stick of PC3200 samsung memory to go with it. I should be able to kick out some good numbers with this stuff.
