View Full Version : G450 looks worse than GF2MX400!!!
I have been using a GF2 MX 400 for about 6 months now on my work system, and this morning I decided to try a G450 I've had in the spare parts draw. Well, it's been about an hour and a half...my eyes are hurting, the text is NOT as clear...I think I'll end up switching back before the end of the day.
I've always wondered what all the hype was with Matrox cards. We've got two identical machines at work running them (I'm sure they're both G450's), but one is dual-head. The dual head is OK, but the other looks horrible. The text is the worst I've seen.
Come to think of it, someone told me they had to replace the one in the dual head machine while I was gone.
I guess peoples' experiences may vary, but I definitely won't be buying one!
So far I've noticed it's almost impossible to get the refresh rates I want/had, the display properties setting for refresh does not jive with the settings the Matrox power desk say. ( Glad my monitor reads it out for me. )
In short, I'm NOT impressed.

Their Parhelia was wayyyy over-hyped. I read about 10-15 different reviews from just as many tech sites including Matrox's own PR and although I read mixed reviews the majority vowed never to buy one as there primary graphx card. It falled far behind the ATi Radeon 8500 and even farther behind the GF4-Ti-4600 in several key benchmarks...'tis sad :o
