Because I don't have a CPU to go with it yet. :(

I got a deal on a GA-8IRXP board from Gigabyte ( only $59.00 refurbed with warrenty ). It's supposed to be a really good overclocker board...so I'm saving up for a P4 2.0Ghz 'A' processor.

I plan on running at 2.6 or higher, if I'm lucky.

Heres the board: http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/products/8irxp.htm

You should go with a 1.6A or 1.8A, save the money, and go for a higher OC. I've seen people OC a 1.8A to 2.9GHz, and sometimes higher. And, with those 2 you can achieve some mondo OC's with just Stock Cooling! You save about $30 if you go with the 1.8A, and over $80 if you go with the 1.6A. You can still achieve 2.6GHz with the 1.6A, even higher! Save the money and buy yourself something else with it.

Great deal on the mobo, BTW! What kind of memory are you going to go with, or have you already purchased it?

I have 512M of Micron PC2100. I see about $20.00 difference in CPU costs from the 2.0-1.8 512K cache.

I figure a 2.0a running on 133 MHz host bus for 2.66GHz is pretty do-able, where I would have to be lucky to get a good 1.8a that will do 2.6GHz. I mean, it's only 20 bucks.

As for drives, I have a AHA3940UW controller with a Cheetah 18G drive, that will be my system drive, I will add a 120-200 GB program/data drive sometime later on down the road.

I'm getting psyched!! I modified the case, installed a 120VAC fan, modified the power supply with a 120V relay ( for the fan power ) Installed the motherboard, memory, controller video card and drives. All thats left now is a CPU!!!

I'm taking it to work tomorrow to borrow a CPU to make sure everything works right. I'm sleeping with my fingers crossed. :)

It works!!!!

I used a borrowed CPU to test it with...and it was painful to take it back out. :(

Well, at least there's a computer show tomorrow. I have to get my own CPU to go with it.
