Anyone interested in a Basic Internet Runner. You know, something to get the kids off your main pooter!

A lot of Vendors are unloading the former Barbie/Matel computer.
Cube style Enlight Case, Intel BP810 board w/onboard sound/vid and modem. 40X Liteon cdrom and 3.5 Mitsumi floppy drive round out the box.

NOTE: This box is Legacy Free. No slots, no ps/2 ports. 4 usb ports for keyboard/mouse/network. There is also a serial port and printer port. Add cpu, memory and hard drive. Cheap way to throw a simple box together!

Emad @ Peach PC has them for $59.00

One word of warning -

Take a close look at the modem on this system -

The Motorolas used to be the biggest tech-support headache a few years ago because they didn't run the "standard" hayes command set for communication.

I'm not familiar with the 56K modem series, I got out of the support for those shortly after the 28.8's came out - I just remember how much I hated getting motorola modem calls because you couldn't be sure how it would respond. Hopefully there won't be a problem - Perhaps someone else here has more recent information on Motorola internal modems.

the more I look at the system, the more I don't like it -

windows98, and usb keyboard & mouse - so if it ever crashes and you have to go into safe mode - you can't fix it -

what's the point? Talk about a major head-ache waiting to happen.....

I'd say it isn't worth $60 -

It has BIOS level USB support....I boot into safemode all the time and use my USB key and mouse just fine :)

The Motoroloa modem works fine. Same chipset as the add-on one I currently use. No reported problems I know of...;)

on the BIOS level USB - I've looked at both web sites closely and I don't see that defined anywhere -

I'm a bit warry when an OEM manufacturer decides to sand off all trace of themselves -
