Hi all,

The ISDN connection I have at home has recently been playing up. Every now and again the internet just simply stops. It will not load websites. The connection simply siezes up but after a minute or two it resumes downloading the webpage as normal. It happens sporadically, there seems to be no pattern. I have also noticed that when this happens, if I try to access my favourites from the tool bar, this is also frozen, but again comes back to life once the connection resumes.

However, with my download manager does is not susceptible to the problem, and will continue to download as normal.

I have fully scanned for all viruses/spyware and nothing was found.

Am totally stumped and can only assume that ISDN connections, being virtually obsolete, may not be fully supported by the latest version of IE or by Windows ME/2000.

Are my assumptions right? Is there anyway round this problem.
I am also hoping to do a clean install of Windows Professional XP soon, would this solve the problem do you think?

Any help on this annoying matter much appreciated.

Josh

What Web browser are you using? Is it fully patched and upto date? Have you confirmed this issue with other browsers on the same machine?

Since you mention that your downloading tool does not "stall" I would have to say that it's your browser software that is hanging and that could be due to a multitue of reasons such as a corrupt file like a DLL or poorly written code on a visited website a plugin that is not installed and is having to be fetched and the plugin server is not responding in a timely manner etc etc

I am using IE6 fully up to date. I will try a different browser when I get home tonight. Any recommendations for a good free one?

Mozilla or Opera are nice and both are very stable
