As for my next 'tech' project...I would like to take a P4 Xeon ( 603 ) and make a socket adapter to use it on a standard P4 478 motherboard.

After really not wanting to give up SMP...this seems to be the only affordable way to get smp and stay with the P4 architecture.

So, what I need is a donor P4 Xeon Prestonia, and a donor P4 motherboard. I can come up with a socket 603 socket and adapt it to a socket 478 board, even if it means designing an APIC circuit and VRM circuit on the adapter.

PS: Don't let powerleap get ahold of my idea like they did before!!!

I'll make XPC come up with the P4 board for you...but if I do get ahold of some Xeons.,...their mine! ;)

Hmmm......

Wouldn't it be cool? I mean, the P4 xeon costs about the same as the P4 northwood...it's just the motherboards that are so expensive...because they are all dual cpu rdram boards.

I think it's the perfect thing...get hyperthreading at the cost of a standard P4...I'm all about it!

Errmmm, XPC could slide a couple P-III 1 gig cpu's my way also :D

Hmmmm.....

Looks like I won't have to do this anymore:

And Intel will do far better than just release a 3GHz P4 in the fourth quarter of this year – it will introduce the 3.06GHz then – with hyperthreading.

That makes me happy!
