Just 3 days to go folks :D

Great days crunching again y'all, just shy of 1.4 million points uploaded, 890 thousand molecules checked, and 62 thousand hits discovered :D

If you haven't checked it out yet, please see the contest thread here (http://www.xtremepccentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=15545)

This is for a Complete System!! Very generously offered by Kev and Rea :D

Another exciting day in the Win2Kuser houshold, sat up until about 5am on Skype, got up late, took some headache tablets for the Stella induced hangover, did nothing much, watched the Simpsons, played some games whilst Wifey played some more RT2, and thats about it :D

Digital Camera didn't arrive :( So maybe tomorrow or Thursday... Got a busy day lined up tomorrow, off to do the final shop for Xmas, food and stuff, nibbles, alkeyhol, last few minute 'Damn I forgot about so and so' type things, you know...
Then it's back to try and rewire the cockup that the 1970's sparkys left i.e. no nutral used in the lighting circuit upstairs, just live and earth used

Other than that, I can't think of anything left to waffle about, so I'll bid you all good night...

Not sure who won the waffler of the day award yesterday, so I'll leave it open...

Congrats to the Dumperz, Moverz, and 'Stonerz :D

1st!!!:D

Well I was able to uplaod a few jobs this morning, for a nice 16 grand dump, still waiting on a decent sized one on the HP, not alot of points but going on 2.5 days now!!!

Anyways, currently DL HL2 Demo, now that its out... a Whopping 751MB download, just for teh DEMO!!!

:jaw:

Anyways, its gonna take a half hour to DL, so I'll be having to find soemthing to do for the time being. But I'm downloading it from Gamers Hell, they have at least 7 1Gb servers, the one I'm DL from right now has 1000 total slots to DL from, but most have 200-500 slots, just to let those who want to try out teh demo know. Though the sheer size of it may make many just wait till a game mag demo CD is released!!!:D

Well worth the download Shyguy, it's a very cool game.

I bet after playing the demo you'll want to buy it :)

Ive given up on the damn demo for now, have tried installing 6 times, I go to extract the files from the Rar/Zip file (I use WinRAR), & the RAR extracter just sits there, locks up or freezes up, then I have to cancel, & try again, hmmmm? Seems like Steams faulty problematic track record (at least from what Ive read) seems to even affect the Demo in a Zip based file also? I may try & DL from another site tommrrow & see if that works, otherwise I'll just wait till I can buy it or get the demo on a disc somewhere.

Oh well thats alright, while I waited to DL it I finished watching 2nd half of Return of The King (I watched frist half last night), this is only 3rd time Ive watched it, & never get tired of it, I watched The Two Towers the night before (whole thing), & saw Fellowship on TV last week, thats why I decided to watch the otehr two this week. Now I want to get the Extended versions too, LOL!!!:D

Shyguy I just watched that on Sunday night.. its like the 3rd or 4th time I've watched it...lol... As for the steam thing.. Steam really hasn't been a problem with me, I think that they are doing pretty good with keeping up with the games.. One thing is they need to add VAC to the CS:S servers because there is a lot of hackers playing. When people hack it kills the fun in the game cuz the servers they are on just empty out. If you do get HL2 and CS:S play on a server call The~Source~Matrix - Chicago
I think thats how the name is..

Well, congrats to the moverz, stonerz, dumperz, and grinderz! :P

Just finished OC'ing the new 1.1GHz Celery to 1.37 and it's still running at 25C. :D I'm going to let it run there for a bit and watch to see what happens. If everything seems to continue fine, I'll take it to 1.4GHz, but I'm already getting the feeling that it'll be staying where it's currently at.

Also looks like I've held off rstarr until the next update . . . . but will watch him pass me shortly. :(

Hey BS . . . . trying ta' put up a little bit of a fight I see. :bunny: we'll have ta' see if I still have a little secret up my sleeve for ya'! :P

Well, that does my waffles with syrup today. ;)

well, my internet service was working yesterday when i got home (down since sunday 7pm) but i saw the cablemodem light was off again this morning...wondering just how long before RR gets their act together. upgrading everyone to faster d/l speeds is all well and good but it ain't worth a damn if my connection it unreliable.

anyways i used the down time from sun night to mon night to work on that getting that p4 w/XP machine ready. i haven't completely installed all the apps that i use but i've already encountered an incompatibility.

there's a macro key program i use and when i launch it, it hogs all the spare cpu time even though the thread process is already set at Low. increasing the fad process priority helps a little but it is still stealing about 30% of the cpu time...my cpu score drops ~50 pts when the macro program is running. turning off the hyper-threading isn't making a difference so it's either the design of the p4, the mobo/chipset, or XP itself which is the culprit.

additionally, i am noticing a distinct lag time opening my computer or when explorer refreshes at times and i believe the problem is most visible when network drives are mapped. i think this might be fixed with a registry hack (already modded the fast update keys) but i've been unable to research this properly since my internet is down so much lately.

of a lesser problem...i'm not getting any sound from the onboard output. this is probably just a driver problem (drivers installed were d/l'ed drivers from the website instead of using the included CD) but it's just another item on a growing list of issues with this project.

ah well...at least i get friday off, sorta of...if the cable office is open xmas eve, maybe i'll take in my cablemodem for an exchange to see if that helps any.

keep em crunching, everyone.

man...after I pass Mr. Snow, its going to take forever to get any further in the list :)
shyguy: do you have the most recent winrar? Does the demo have a lot of directories and files or is it an iso image?
With Win2kUser's talk about skype, I may have to finally check it out.

That would be nice. I'm on it every night with someone from XPC. A voice would be cool.....:D

^^ Would have had a chat earlier Kev, but Ali was winging and telling me to pull my finger out of somewhere and going shopping :)

It looks like y'all will have to wait a bit longer for the stats tonight...

Went shopping earlier - What a nightmare, I knew it would be, but nothing prepared me for just how bad! Left the house at 12:30ish arrived in Swindon at 1pm, proceeding to make our way to the hypermarket, did the shopping (an hour long battle with elbows, chins and severe trolly jams), 30 min drive home from Swindon, arrived here at 6.30pm

We were only in the hypermarket for an hour, probably queued up for an hour to pay, then the rest was local Swindon trafic.

I have a headache, still stressed, Ali is not well, and I'm knackered, so an early night for us - Stats will have to wait until the morning GMT - Sorry, but I really can't face waiting up until 1 or 2am to update and post them...

LOL! Christmas, huh, Win2k!:D

We too, went shopping today! In Kingston Upon the Rain!:)

Fortunately, I think the bad weather kept folk out of the town! It was lovely, parked easily, no queues or crowds!

2 stories from different shops;-

Maplins, computer store, I asked the geezer for a USB floppy drive,( for Mother-In-Law's lappie! ) He looked at me kinda funny, said "Okay, I'll find out!" and wandered off! After about 10 mins, I went looking for him, found him behind the parts counter looking it up in a catalogue!:D I found a picture and number of the one I wanted for him, he tapped away at the keyboard next to him and said "Yes, we've got 6 of them!" "Great," I said, "where?" "Err, I'll come back to you on that," he said, and disappeared out the back!

Meanwhile, Da Boss had been trawling up and down the shelves, she went into the section marked Keyboards, Mouse and Speakers, found the drives there, so came to find me with one!

We bought it and left! :D

A bit later, in Waterstones bookstore, UK equivalent of Barnes and Noble, and probably the busiest of all the shops we went in, we 'divided to conquer' once again. We were after 'The Gruffalo's Child', and 'The Body Book'! After about 15 mins, I was getting close, having found 'The Gruffalo' ( which littlun already has, ) when an obviously overworked guy appeared next to me and started filling shelves. I asked him if they had either titles in stock, whereupon he grinned broadly, reached behind me and took down the Gruffalo's Child, then flew off to an adjoining aisle, looked along a rack then went back a few racks and came back with the Body Book!

"Anything Else, Sir?" he enquired. I declined his offer, but made a point of telling the duty manager how impressed I was before leaving!:)

We then spent the early evening wrapping things, we had fun wrapping 'something' for eldest, I won't say what because he's a member here, but it's disguised in an oversized box full of shredded paper and 5kg of building ballast! :D:D

So now, we're back on target with stuff, I'm working tomorrow, last day till next week.

Congrats to the Stoners, Bumpers, Movers, Grinders and Players!
Gohan, You don't think you are gonna stay there, do ya??:D:D

:)
