Vegemite is the most wonderful food!! :D :P
I can be used as a spread on bread or toast, as a flavouring for soups or stews... and to grease the axles of your bike when they sieze up!!! :D :D :D
A miracle food, really. ;)
Cheers
Mick

Heh, reading through some trivia on that site found something of interest to our UK friends.... ;) When Australians first heard about Vegemite, a thick, dark English spread (called Marmite) already dominated the spread market and Australians were reluctant to try Fred Walker's locally made product. Poor sales performance resulted in Vegemite being re-named in 1928.
In an attempt to emulate the success of Marmite, Walker re-launched Vegemite as "Parwill". "If Marmite...then Parwill" was the rationale behind Walker's strategy to carve a niche in the market for his concentrated yeast extract spread. However Parwill was only ever sold in Queensland and Walker's creative play-on-words fell on deaf ears and Parwill failed. Walker went back to the drawing board, and finally realised that the Vegemite brand could work. All he had to do was stimulate consumer trial.
:)

Believe me, you have to be raised with this stuff!
My friend JoAnne (a Kiwi) (that is, a New Zealand native) regularly puts a jar of Vegemite on the table at her brunches for friends...
The "DownUndas" gobble the stuff right up.
The Yanks have learned to avoid all entreaties to spoil their toast/crackers with it. :D
If God had wanted us to put Vegemite on our toast, He wouldn't have invented butter, is the way we reason it out! :P
**And pass the strawberry jam, if you please...** :D

"He just smiled and gave me a vegimite sandwhich"
I LOVE Marmite, my mother im law sends it to me from CA 'cause the've never heard of it here. By the way it's high in B vitamins and other good stuff.
So...Vegemite is the left over yeast byproduct of the beer production process.
Sounds disguisting.
