Working on a co-workers custom computer today.

ABIT IC7-E
P4 2.6GHZ

Getting a long beep, then its quiet for 10-15 seconds then the Long BEEEEP again. Cant figure out whats happened. Ive tried 3 video cards, reseated everything, and still the same annoying beeeep?

Help!

Not familiar with Abit mobos, and I don't know what their bios beep codes are, or even what bios it is...

...have you tried http://www.bioscentral.com

Other than that, make sure that hard drives/cd rom are set correctly to master/slave, check that everything is sat right, is the ram pushed in as far as possible, try another ram slot, is the cpu fan plugged in, is the extra power cable from the psu plugged into the mobo if needed, etc...

hope that gives ya something to go on...

[edit]
Have you tried clearing the bios?
Do you have another stick of ram you can try? Or try booting with that stick taken out and see if you get the same beep... might point you in the right direction.

I would go for incorrect FSB setting, seem to remember getting something similar once; the beep was VERY loud as I recall.

W2K, I owe ya. Moved the 2nd ram stick to slot 2 instead of slot 3 and all is fine. Actually using the system to write this now. Thanks for the help!

I was so frustrated, I couldnt take much more of it !!
