Okay, this may take some explanation, but I've got an idea to encourage adding crunchers:

What about a lottery where each point(or GigaFlop) is a lottery entry? If you earned 20 points within a given period, you would get 20 entries, if you earned 20,000 you would get 20,000 entries. Your odds would be:

(personal points)/(total entries)

Another possibility would be a dwindling returns type of thing: More points mean more entries, but as you get higher, the total number of points needed per entry goes up. Maybe an entry for every 500 points up to 50,000, 1000 points for every entry from 50,000 to 150,000, etc., preferably with team approval. For example:

1500 points would be 3 entries(500*3 entries)
45,000 points would be 90 entries(500*90 entries)
55,000 points would be 105 entries(500*100 entries+1000*5 entries)

Not sure what to do "middling numbers"(would 505 points be 1 entry or 2?[maybe rounding is the best idea])

Anyway, just thought I'd throw this out; not sure how much trouble it would be to implement. Maybe a program that assigns entries, then use this site. (http://www.random.org/)

If anything the reward of points should be backwards. they are the crunchers who could used the prizes. Don't you think.
The top 20 or so really don't need any help..........;)
